Treating Posterior Popliteal Perforators
It is not uncommon to see these posterior popliteal perforators such as the popliteal and gastrocniemus. In this case 2 mls of Sotradecol 0.5% was injected into the 4-5 mm attenuated varices at the popliteal fossa with simultaneous popliteal vein and distal varices compression. Phlebectomyof all varices was done. The proximal attenuated varices were excised by subdermal extraction after making a 1 inch incision over the first varicose vein. The small incision was closed with 2 sutures.
